A Few Good Men

The ax has fallen on the fate of Gen. Stanley McChrystal; His insubordination has cost him his job. This is not the first time a general has been called on the carpet by the president. History is full of examples where presidents and generals have clashed.

Rare Slave Photo Found in North Carolina

A haunting 150-year-old photo found in a North Carolina attic shows a young black child named John, barefoot and wearing ragged clothes, perched on a barrel next to another unidentified young boy. Art historians believe it’s an extremely rare Civil War-era photograph of children who were either slaves at the time or recently emancipated.

Paul Mooney Racism Is Here To Stay

Mr. Obama is painfully aware that if he were to take on any issue that would impact or help the black community is presidency would be doomed. It's not fair to put this kind of pressure on the man. Those who scrutinize his every move would love to stoke the fires of racial indifference and pile on.

OPINION – Are Latinos White People?

most of what we consider to be Latinos are this hemisphere’s descendants of Spanish conquerors mixed with, in most cases, Native America and African bloodlines and one begins to wonder where the “white” comes in. And don’t get me wrong; I get it. Even now, with a Black president and all, Black people still aren’t the group that other groups want to be lumped in and associated with—unless of course, they need something. Then they copy all of their strategies right out of our civil rights playbook.

The New Jim Crow

Here are some of the tragic realities she describes. Seventy percent of black males from 18 to 25 are more likely to go to prison than attend college. Drug use between whites and blacks are almost even. However, blacks are 40% and in some cases up to 90% of those incarcerated for similar offenses.
