Mitt Romney 2012

Mitt Romney 2012
Can Romney beat Obama?

If the American electorate was presented with the following candidate you would not vote for him. Someone who would intentionally send jobs overseas, not release his tax returns, hides his vast wealth in offshore bank accounts and protect his rich buddies with tax loopholes, who are in the top 1%.

So the question is, why would you vote for such a man? Simple answer, because he’s white! There is so much vitriol in the loud anti Obama chorus and most of it is tied to the fact that President Obama is black. I can understand if you disagree with his policies or you feel he does not have your interest on political and social issues. Let’s keep it real; most people who support or want to vote for Mitt Romney are doing it for one reason and one reason only; he’s white!

Obama Gays and 2012 Election

Bayard Rustin Dr. Kings closest confidant
Bayard Rustin (far right) who was gay was Dr. King’s confidant

Pres. Obama’s endorsement of Gay marriage has sent shockwaves throughout the world and the U.S. ;will this hurt or help him? The Republicans of course, will use this as political fodder. The big question is, will the black church abandon Pres. Obama’s bid to a second term?

Many want to compare gay marriage to the civil rights struggle of African-Americans in the fifties and sixties. Many Americans are unaware of the significant role of a forgotten civil rights figure in the person of, Bayard Rustin. He was the gay associate and strategist of Dr. Martin Luther King. Mr. Rustin was King’s right hand man and a brilliant strategist. He is also the man behind the enormous success of the 1963 March on Washington.

Trayvon Martin

The elephant in the room

Trayvon Martin is the victim
Trayvon Martin

The issue of race has reared it’s head once again in the aftermath of the Trayvon Martin case. Regardless where you stand on this issue, we can’t ignore the fact that race is still a delicate and highly charged issue in American society.

Many feel that now that a black man is in the white house we are post-racial; NOT! If you believe that, you need to step away from the crack pipe. The Trayvon Martin case is proof that race still dominates much of the American experience.

Regardless of where you stand on the raging debate on the Trayvon Martin killing, one thing’s for certain, the homicide investigation was bungled and flawed from the outset. Just last evening (March 27th) a startling revelation has come to light. The investigator who was first on the scene of the killing of Mr. Martin recommended that Zimmerman be arrested and charged with manslaughter. The state’s attorney told the investigator to “stand down” and not arrest Zimmerman citing that there was not enough “evidence” for a conviction. Really?

Rick Santorum Stuns Romney

Religious Zealot or viable candidate?

Don’t count Rick Santorum out just yet. His three state sweep of the Republican caucuses have determined that Mitt Romney may not be the heir apparent that we would like to believe. One thing is for certain as the GOP tries to chose a nominee they feel that can take on President Obama.

Rick Santorum went through Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado like a right-wing blizzard. His tri-state victory should be a wake up call for Romney. It’s not going to be the cake walk that he [Romney] anticipated.

Ron Paul on Race

Ron Paul, race and the GOP
Ron Paul and Race

The articles and commentary here at Recovering-Republican.com are usually all original content. Due to time constraints, I wanted to post this well written article on our blog, written by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Les Payne, who is a frequent contributor to TheRoot.com.

Ron Pauls moment of racial clarity.

His recent comments about institutional racism defy the GOP norm.

The debate fell silent Saturday when Ron Paul trotted out of the closet the GOP skeleton of denial: racism.

Iowa Caucus Results

Romney wins Iowa Caucus

Rick Santorum is big winner.

The fat lady has sung in Iowa! Romney was declared the winner however, it seems like Rick Santorum may be the big winner. His hard core social conservatism seemed to win over social conservatives in Iowa.

While Romney is the clear winner, the Republican base seems to still be wary of Mr. Romney. This morning on MSNBC, pundits from the New York Times stated that Mitt Romney will have trouble in the south because of his religion (Mormon). That may or may not be the case, however, he is just not seen as conservative enough to satisfy the Republican base, who are still trying to anoint anyone but him [Romney].

New Year 2012

Obama has chance at reelection
Pres Obama will win 2012

Dick Clark should run for GOP

2011 was an interesting year indeed. 2012 promises to the very interesting year. We have presidential election in November 2012, there are many people on both sides of the political spectrum that have a lot invested in outcome of that election. The smart money says President Obama will win reelection. There are many of you. Reading this will not agree my assessment; President Obama has numerous victories in this past year that will merit his reelection.

President Obama’s most recent victory was the extension of the job tax credit. Despite of a Republican Party’s major focus is to disrupt and stonewall All President Obama’s ideas, he has prevailed. In spite of Republican opposition and obstruction, president Obama has won success on many fronts.
The killing of Osama bin Laden, the killing of Muammar Gaddaafi, stock market record single day in trading volume in the last eight years, and improving job market and economy will surely guarantee president Obama’s reelection. Granted this is something many who oppose him do not wish to hear. So let’s give credit where credit is due!

Kim Jong Il Dead

Kim Jong Il is dead
Kim Jong Il is dead, will it help N. Korea?

Looney Tune Fan is dead.
The oppressive dictator is dead. What does this mean for the United States? He was cruel, isolationist and he loved Daffy Duck cartoons; go figure.

His immediate successor appears to be his third eldest son, Kim Jong Un. Sources say, he’s not the brightest bulb on the tree, and at 26 is very young to be taking over the reigns from his deceased father.
