Cyber Monday and U.S. Economy

Cyber Monday will surpass Black Friday

Cyber Monday will surpass Black Friday

The 99% Go Shopping!

As the debate rages on about the state of the American economy, one thing is for certain, it hasn’t diminished American’s desire for a good deal. We just had Black Friday, and by all accounts, sales were good. When Cyber Monday started in 2006, it made headway into increasing consumer spending as we head into the holiday season. By all accounts, sales from Cyber Monday (one day of online shopping) is expected to net $1.3 Billion in sales.

Joe Paterno – Will He Survive Scandal?

Joe Paterno and sex scandal

Will Joe Paterno Survive Scandal?

Joe Paterno has been a hero and icon to many in the world of college football. This past week all hell broke lose when the story surfaced about his alleged knowledge of an inappropriate sex act committed by his long time assistant, coach Jerry Sandusky.

What is a story about Joe Paterno and Penn State football doing in a political blog? Politics dominates college football; as well as money and power. College football is big business in the United States. Winning coaches like Joe Pa are considered Gods at the Universities they serve. Many of them have as much power as the president of the university or more!

Pat Buchanan: Suicide of a Superpower

Pat Buchanan is a racist

Pat Buchanan caters to racists

Pat Buchanan’s new book is raising eyebrows and a lot of controversy over his assertion that “white America” is losing it’s dominance. It’s the right-wings death rattle of the demographic changes in America. Within the next generation, the term minority will become an oxymoron.

America is becoming more brown and black and that some very concerned. It’s as if no one of color is competent enough to lead America back to better days. Let’s face it, American Exceptionalism is on the decline. China is an emerging power that could pose a financial threat to the United States.

The simple truth is, those who expouse a white supremacy ethos are not happy! As people of color all over the globe assert their independence, it challenges the status-quo. The days of “Leave it to Beaver” and “Father knows best” are over.

Herman Cain – Barack Obama

Can you imagine a Cain - Obama Faceoff?

Cain - Obama in 2012?

Raising Cain

Herman Cain, in-spite of his recent surge to the top of the Republican heep, is seen as a dark-horse (pardon the pun) candidate. Given the way the rest of the field is imploding, I wouldn’t count Mr. Cain out so fast!

Mitt Romney has held the number spot for weeks now and it’s still not enough to satisfy the GOP. They are pole-vaulting over Mr. Romney in search of a conservative messiah they feel confident who will be able to beat President Obama.

Steve Jobs Legacy

"Steve Jobs Innovations"

Steve Jobs Legacy

Steve Jobs lived an incredible life. Much will be written about his legacy and the indelible imprint he left on this life. He is arguably one of the most visionary men of our century. He did for technology what Henry Ford and Thomas Edison had done in the previous century with industry.

Steve Jobs redefined “cross-over” appeal. People of all races, languages and cultures embraced him as the change agent he was. There has been much written about his mercurial temper and his pursuit of the next big thing.

His ability to bring disparate groups of people together via technology and his inventions far surpasses any other human being on the planet. Wouldn’t it be nice if the Democrats and Republicans could do the same? Better yet; the Republicans and President Obama?

Herman Cain: Blacks Brainwashed by Liberals

Herman Cain: Can he win?

Herman Cain: Blacks Brainwashed

Herman Cain’s assertion that African Americans have been brainwashed into not being open-minded, not even considering a conservative point of view is ridiculous. While Mr. Cain comes off as a competent candidate, he is missing the point.

Mr. Cain, who recently won the Florida straw poll has given his candidacy a lift from his performance in beating out Rick Perry. This may force people to take his candidacy more seriously. However, it’s a long way until the election, so anything can happen.

Any Republican, no matter who they are who has the temerity to suggest that African Americans or anyone else is not open-minded, is not dealing with reality. there is no other group in the country who are more narrow minded than Republicans.

Rick Perry is Toast!

"Rick Perry Implodes"

Rick Perry is Toast!

Texas Toast

The Republican camp is imploding! They seem to change front runners like we change underwear. After knocking off Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry’s star is beginning to fade. In his third debate this past Friday, he failed to impress. In fact, he actually performed like a sixth grader who hadn’t done his homework; Herman Cain stole the day.

The Republicans have found themselves in a conundrum. Mitt Romney is not getting any love from the extreme right and the tea party. They do not want to promote him as the candidate who becomes the eventual nominee. The other problem, is their hard right candidates will not do well with independents and right of center voters in a primary or general election. This of course, helps Obama in winning a second term and they know it.

Sarah Palin Revelations

Sarah Palin - Black men

Sarah Palin is done!

Sarah Palin is done!

The bombshell that was dropped this past week by writer Joe McGinniss has rocked the political world. Sarah Palin appears to be another disingenuous conservative who is not what she appears to be. Her conservative credentials have been tarnished and rendered null and void. Hopefully this book, which is an unauthorized biography, will close a chapter in the comic tragedy which is Sarah Palin.

Mitt Romney – Our next President?

Mitt Romney for president?

Mitt Romney for President?

At the conclusion of last week’s GOP debate, the big question is, does Mitt Romney have a chance to become president? Before Rick Perry’s entrance into the campaign, Michele Bachmann was the one who seem to be the front runner; now enter Rick Perry. The GOP debate turned out to be a duel between Mitt Romney and Rick Perry.

If this writer had his druthers, I would definitely support Mitt Romney over Rick Perry. While very much an Obama supporter, the current field of Republicans don’t seem to offer much. Rick Perry is certifiably crazy and just as dangerous as Michele Bachmann. It’s interesting that the moderator did not ask Rick Perry about his stance on Texas seceding from the union. One would think, given that position, would you really want a secessionist in the White House?
