Rick Santorum Stuns Romney

Religious Zealot or viable candidate?

Don’t count Rick Santorum out just yet. His three state sweep of the Republican caucuses have determined that Mitt Romney may not be the heir apparent that we would like to believe. One thing is for certain as the GOP tries to chose a nominee they feel that can take on President Obama.

Rick Santorum went through Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado like a right-wing blizzard. His tri-state victory should be a wake up call for Romney. It’s not going to be the cake walk that he [Romney] anticipated.

While things are turning around for the country and President Obama, the right is trying to create as many problems and obstacles as possible to thwart his [Obama's] re-election. Such as the latest controversy involving Health and Human Services. The right has even accused President Obama of taking away religious freedom in America!

When Americans enter the voting booth this November, they will not be thinking about abortion, gay marriage or if life begins at conception. What they will be thinking about are their economics prospects for a better future for themselves and their children. Come on, give me a break! It’s the economy stupid!

Jobs are on the rebound, the DOW is over 12,000, the wars are ended and our troops are coming home! Let’s not forget that Osama Bin Laden is dead and GM is alive!

While Rick Santorum did well in these conservative states, can he really be a threat in the general election, much less win the Republican nomination? I don’t think so… Mr. Santorum is so far right, how could he possibly relate to or attract the average voter. While we a nation that is slightly right of center, we are not a nation of right-wing extremists.

Rick Santorum has about as much of a chance of winning the Republican nomination as Newt Gingrich singing at The Apollo! Don’t bet your life on it!

I’m sure Mitt Romney is re-thinking his strategy for the remainder of his campaign. The question is, what does Romney do after his wake up call? At the end of the day, it’s still anybodies campaign. Bottom line, all this brouhaha is making it easier for President Obama to win re-election.
