Ron Paul on Race
The articles and commentary here at Recovering-Republican.com are usually all original content. Due to time constraints, I wanted to post this well written article on our blog, written by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Les Payne, who is a frequent contributor to TheRoot.com.
Ron Pauls moment of racial clarity.
His recent comments about institutional racism defy the GOP norm.
The debate fell silent Saturday when Ron Paul trotted out of the closet the GOP skeleton of denial: racism.

Cyber Monday and U.S. Economy
The 99% Go Shopping!
As the debate rages on about the state of the American economy, one thing is for certain, it hasn’t diminished American’s desire for a good deal. We just had Black Friday, and by all accounts, sales were good. When Cyber Monday started in 2006, it made headway into increasing consumer spending as we head into the holiday season. By all accounts, sales from Cyber Monday (one day of online shopping) is expected to net $1.3 Billion in sales.

Herman Cain: Blacks Brainwashed by Liberals
Herman Cain’s assertion that African Americans have been brainwashed into not being open-minded, not even considering a conservative point of view is ridiculous. While Mr. Cain comes off as a competent candidate, he is missing the point.
Mr. Cain, who recently won the Florida straw poll has given his candidacy a lift from his performance in beating out Rick Perry. This may force people to take his candidacy more seriously. However, it’s a long way until the election, so anything can happen.
Any Republican, no matter who they are who has the temerity to suggest that African Americans or anyone else is not open-minded, is not dealing with reality. there is no other group in the country who are more narrow minded than Republicans.

Rick Perry is Toast!
Texas Toast
The Republican camp is imploding! They seem to change front runners like we change underwear. After knocking off Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry’s star is beginning to fade. In his third debate this past Friday, he failed to impress. In fact, he actually performed like a sixth grader who hadn’t done his homework; Herman Cain stole the day.
The Republicans have found themselves in a conundrum. Mitt Romney is not getting any love from the extreme right and the tea party. They do not want to promote him as the candidate who becomes the eventual nominee. The other problem, is their hard right candidates will not do well with independents and right of center voters in a primary or general election. This of course, helps Obama in winning a second term and they know it.

Latinos Obama and GOP
The 2012 election will be interesting indeed. With so much going on in the country and in the Congress at this point; where do we have time to talk about immigration? When the 2012 campaign ramps up into full gear, there are a few unresolved issues that will surface to the fore as things get going. Pres. Obama will have his hands full. There’s the nagging issue of what to do about immigration and how to appease Latino voters.
The Latino electorate does not trust Republicans and are frustrated with president Obama. In recent weeks president Obama made a trip which turns out to be a campaign stop in Puerto Rico. He’s the first president since Pres. Kennedy to visit the island. He was greeted with much fanfare and exuberance as the partisan Puerto Rican crowd showed President Obama affection and approval.
