Rick Santorum Stuns Romney

Religious Zealot or viable candidate?

Don’t count Rick Santorum out just yet. His three state sweep of the Republican caucuses have determined that Mitt Romney may not be the heir apparent that we would like to believe. One thing is for certain as the GOP tries to chose a nominee they feel that can take on President Obama.

Rick Santorum went through Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado like a right-wing blizzard. His tri-state victory should be a wake up call for Romney. It’s not going to be the cake walk that he [Romney] anticipated.

Ron Paul on Race

Ron Paul, race and the GOP

Ron Paul and Race

The articles and commentary here at Recovering-Republican.com are usually all original content. Due to time constraints, I wanted to post this well written article on our blog, written by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Les Payne, who is a frequent contributor to TheRoot.com.

Ron Pauls moment of racial clarity.

His recent comments about institutional racism defy the GOP norm.

The debate fell silent Saturday when Ron Paul trotted out of the closet the GOP skeleton of denial: racism.

Iowa Caucus Results

Romney wins Iowa Caucus

Rick Santorum is big winner.

The fat lady has sung in Iowa! Romney was declared the winner however, it seems like Rick Santorum may be the big winner. His hard core social conservatism seemed to win over social conservatives in Iowa.

While Romney is the clear winner, the Republican base seems to still be wary of Mr. Romney. This morning on MSNBC, pundits from the New York Times stated that Mitt Romney will have trouble in the south because of his religion (Mormon). That may or may not be the case, however, he is just not seen as conservative enough to satisfy the Republican base, who are still trying to anoint anyone but him [Romney].

New Year 2012

Obama has chance at reelection

Pres Obama will win 2012

Dick Clark should run for GOP

2011 was an interesting year indeed. 2012 promises to the very interesting year. We have presidential election in November 2012, there are many people on both sides of the political spectrum that have a lot invested in outcome of that election. The smart money says President Obama will win reelection. There are many of you. Reading this will not agree my assessment; President Obama has numerous victories in this past year that will merit his reelection.

President Obama’s most recent victory was the extension of the job tax credit. Despite of a Republican Party’s major focus is to disrupt and stonewall All President Obama’s ideas, he has prevailed. In spite of Republican opposition and obstruction, president Obama has won success on many fronts.
The killing of Osama bin Laden, the killing of Muammar Gaddaafi, stock market record single day in trading volume in the last eight years, and improving job market and economy will surely guarantee president Obama’s reelection. Granted this is something many who oppose him do not wish to hear. So let’s give credit where credit is due!

Cyber Monday and U.S. Economy

Cyber Monday will surpass Black Friday

Cyber Monday will surpass Black Friday

The 99% Go Shopping!

As the debate rages on about the state of the American economy, one thing is for certain, it hasn’t diminished American’s desire for a good deal. We just had Black Friday, and by all accounts, sales were good. When Cyber Monday started in 2006, it made headway into increasing consumer spending as we head into the holiday season. By all accounts, sales from Cyber Monday (one day of online shopping) is expected to net $1.3 Billion in sales.

Herman Cain – Barack Obama

Can you imagine a Cain - Obama Faceoff?

Cain - Obama in 2012?

Raising Cain

Herman Cain, in-spite of his recent surge to the top of the Republican heep, is seen as a dark-horse (pardon the pun) candidate. Given the way the rest of the field is imploding, I wouldn’t count Mr. Cain out so fast!

Mitt Romney has held the number spot for weeks now and it’s still not enough to satisfy the GOP. They are pole-vaulting over Mr. Romney in search of a conservative messiah they feel confident who will be able to beat President Obama.

Herman Cain: Blacks Brainwashed by Liberals

Herman Cain: Can he win?

Herman Cain: Blacks Brainwashed

Herman Cain’s assertion that African Americans have been brainwashed into not being open-minded, not even considering a conservative point of view is ridiculous. While Mr. Cain comes off as a competent candidate, he is missing the point.

Mr. Cain, who recently won the Florida straw poll has given his candidacy a lift from his performance in beating out Rick Perry. This may force people to take his candidacy more seriously. However, it’s a long way until the election, so anything can happen.

Any Republican, no matter who they are who has the temerity to suggest that African Americans or anyone else is not open-minded, is not dealing with reality. there is no other group in the country who are more narrow minded than Republicans.

Rick Perry is Toast!

"Rick Perry Implodes"

Rick Perry is Toast!

Texas Toast

The Republican camp is imploding! They seem to change front runners like we change underwear. After knocking off Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry’s star is beginning to fade. In his third debate this past Friday, he failed to impress. In fact, he actually performed like a sixth grader who hadn’t done his homework; Herman Cain stole the day.

The Republicans have found themselves in a conundrum. Mitt Romney is not getting any love from the extreme right and the tea party. They do not want to promote him as the candidate who becomes the eventual nominee. The other problem, is their hard right candidates will not do well with independents and right of center voters in a primary or general election. This of course, helps Obama in winning a second term and they know it.

Obama and US Credit Downgrade

S&P credit downgrade will hurt US

Obama's re-election hurt by credit downgrade

This past week when Congress finally agreed to raise the debt ceiling, we thought our problems were over. But in a surprise move yesterday, Standard & Poor’s downgraded the United States credit rating from AAA to AA plus. Many of us are wondering how foreboding this will be for the future of the US economy.

The downgrade in the US credit rating is the financial equivalent of the short, fat, bald, masked guy in those free score.com commercials. In announcing the downgrade, Standard & Poor’s cited the difficulties of bridging the gulf between the political parties over reducing the deficit, it indicated they wanted even more spending cuts from Congress — join the misguided consensus that completely misses the fact that economic growth is the most powerful weapon against the deficit. The White House challenged Standard & Poor’s analysis, claiming it was off by Chileans of dollars. Maybe the ratings agency was using the same math ahead would help create the fiscal crisis we are still struggling to get out of by awarding AAA ratings to trillions of dollars in subprime mortgages repackaged as securities.

Latinos Obama and GOP

Cecilia Munoz

Cecilia Munoz, Dir Inter-Govt Affairs - White House

The 2012 election will be interesting indeed. With so much going on in the country and in the Congress at this point; where do we have time to talk about immigration? When the 2012 campaign ramps up into full gear, there are a few unresolved issues that will surface to the fore as things get going. Pres. Obama will have his hands full. There’s the nagging issue of what to do about immigration and how to appease Latino voters.

The Latino electorate does not trust Republicans and are frustrated with president Obama. In recent weeks president Obama made a trip which turns out to be a campaign stop in Puerto Rico. He’s the first president since Pres. Kennedy to visit the island. He was greeted with much fanfare and exuberance as the partisan Puerto Rican crowd showed President Obama affection and approval.
