America’s War on Drugs

America's war on drugs
America’s war on drugs

Crime is big business these days, or should I say prison is big business. Ever since prisons began to privatize, it’s been a boon to investors and states who wanted to relinquish the operations of major prisons across the United States. This niche market has become so big, it’s even traded on Wall Street. Making millions for its investors. The largest of which is Corrections Corporation of America, ticker symbol CCA.

All of this commotion is the unintended consequence of the war on drugs. At least that’s the argument. Anyone with half a brain can see that the war on drugs has had a devastating impact on communities of color. Some such as Michele Alexander, who authored, “The New Jim Crow” claims that this is social construct by design to control people of color.

Mitt Romney’s 47 Percent

Mitt Romney's 47%
Mitt Romney’s comments on the 47% will hurt him in November.

Ever since Mitt Romney’s infamous comment about the 47% tongues have been wagging, and it’s not all good. Romney is notorious for political mis-speak. This comment is the latest example of his political ineptness. The good thing is, he has shown his true colors and what he truly believes. Many who support him now feel alienated, because many of them are part of the 47% That Mr. Romney looks down on from on high.

Todd Akin

Todd Akin is toast!
Todd Akin has insulted women everywhere!

The gift that keeps giving

The Republicans hit an all time low in the persona of Todd Akin, who made the outrageous claim that a woman could not get pregnant if she was raped. This incredibly stupid remark created a firestorm of controversy. His behavior and words were so damning that his fellow Republicans begged him [Akin] not to show his face at the GOP convention this weekend.

Mr. Akin is not alone in showing poor judgement and words. This is only another example of anti-woman rhetoric that has become common place among the GOP. Women are leaving the ranks of the GOP in droves! All of this ultimately plays right into the hands of Pres. Obama and his re-election bid.

Rick Perry & N.A.R.

Rick Perry and NAR
Rick Perry drank the Kool Aid

America would become a theocracy under Rick Perry.

Rick Perry appears to be an astute politician, the problem is, his involvement with The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR). To say that their ideology is far right is an understatement. They are so far right they make the Tea Party look liberal. NAR is under the belief that if they can convert enough Jews to Christianity they can expedite the second coming of Jesus Christ.

The founding fathers were right to call for separation of church and state. It appears they want to bring America into a right-wing, evangelical theocracy. It’s amazing that most of the American electorate is not aware of Rick Perry’s involvement in this underground, yet powerful movement. As the Republican field gets ready to intensify the battle for their parties nomination, this revelation will more than likely knock Rick Perry out of the race.

NAR has the belief that somehow Democrats are Satan worshipers because of their tolerance to gays. And that Oprah Winfrey is the Anti-Christ? Really? Are you beginning to see how dangerous this group is? They’ve even gone as far to recruit Black pastors to preach to their congregations about the evils of the Democratic party! Absolutely amazing, isn’t it? They absolutely frown on any form of tolerance.

They promote “spiritual warfare” being fought for the souls of those who want to go up in the “rapture.” They believe in fighting evil “principalities” that will wage war in the end times. NAR has a cadre of Messianic Jews, who have converted to Christianity to proselytize Jews and convert them. According to NAR the beast is among us and will fight to defeat and repel the second coming of Jesus in the end times.

Gabrielle Giffords Vote

Gabrielle Giffords is humble servant
Gabrielle Giffords is a good example

This past week when Congress passed raising the debt limit, it was a triumphant time for the American people. The surprise appearance by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was a moment that both Congress and the American people needed. In her brief appearance before Congress to cast her vote in favor of raising the debt limit, she gave both houses of Congress, Democrats and Republicans alike a lesson in civility. Her strength and resolve to make the trip to Washington to cast her vote spoke volumes to all Americans. Congresswoman Giffords is a charming and humble public servant. The rest of Congress could learn a lesson from Gabrielle Giffords. Amid much rancor and acrimony, Gabrielle Giffords’ presence seemed to help calm the divide between those factions feuding over the debt limit increase.

Family Values and The GOP

"Family values and the GOP"
Family Values are Republicans full of it?

The following article was written by guest blogger, Michael Knight.

I know what you are thinking; this article is going to be a criticism on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s, former Republican Governor of California, and recent discovery within his personal life; the answer is no. This is not an attack on just Arnold but more importantly the family values that his party holds and in recent news the contradiction of those family values. When one thinks of a Republican a lot of things come to mind. One that pops up right away is a party where its foundation is rooted on traditional family values. This is also a party heavily opposed to those within the gay community getting married; not the family values they espouse.

Sarah Palin Campaign

Sarah Palin Campaign – I’m kidding! This is a tongue in cheek music video by D.C. Douglas lampooing a Sarah Palin / Michele Bachman ticket. I’m sure the Tea Party / Tea Baggers are working on this as we speak. The second video is by Lester and Charlie, political satirists lampooning how bats*&^ Michele Bachman is, with her insane cry of “Let’s take back America!” It’s hilarious, give it a listen!
